My God, Help Me to Survive This Deadly Love

If you have had the chance to go to Berlin, you probably have visited the East Side Gallery. Some of the paintings there are very famous. Does this one ring a bell?

Even if you have never been to Berlin, you may have seen this image and many others. But do you know the history behind this graffiti painting?

This piece of art, called My God, Help Me to Survive This Deadly Loverepresents the fraternal kiss that Leonid Brezhnev and Erich Honecker performed in October 7, 1979, during the 30th anniversary celebration of the foundation of the German Democratic Republic.

The socialist fraternal kiss was a form of greeting between statesmen of Communist countries. It consisted of an embrace combined with three kisses on alternate cheeks, that could be done in the mouth when the leaders were extremely close.

In 1990, Vrubel created this graffiti painting that represents this historical moment that made the socialist fraternal kiss famous.

Did you know about the story behind this painting?

What is Art?

We want to fill our school with music and art, but... what is art? We've been talking about different kinds of art during the week, but maybe not everyone agrees with what we think art is.

Check this video, in which the author talks about this topic. Practice English by trying to solve the questions and listen carefully what this guy has to say about art. Do you agree with him?

Leave a comment down below telling us what art is for you. We'll look forward to your opinions!

Improvisational Techniques

Have you ever thought about how hard it must be to improvise? Do you wonder how theater artists practice improvising before their shows? Today we'll show you some techniques that actors and actresses use!

According to this comedian, there are five improvising techniques. Keep reading and become a great improviser!

1. Be specific
Do you remember learning question words? Make sure to answer all of them!

2. 'Yes and...'
You should go along with what your partner tells you. It doesn't matter what it is. Just accept it and add more things.

3. Object Work

You will have no props. You only have your body. You should use it to make the audience imagine what you have on your hands. This will help them get into the play!

4. Emotion

Remember this: sometimes it is more important how things are said than what it is said.

5. Status

What is the relationship between you and your acting partner? Are you guys equal? Are you both great or both not-that-great? Or is any of you superior to the other? You should establish that relationship!

What do you think of these techniques? Would you try improvising now you know them?

The Big Bang Theory: Who's Your Favorite?

According to the Big Bang Theory and to this 2012 poll edition we can see which character the viewers like the most.

As we can see in the picture above, the most voted character, with (very) little over 50% of the votes is the main character Sheldon. Penny is the second most voted character, closely followed by Leonard. Other characters, such as Howard, Raj and Howard have fewer fans. Bernadette seems to have more followers than Stuart, but is still behind these three.

Do you agree with this list? Is Sheldon Cooper really the most attractive character in the show? How would you rate the others? If you want to give your opinion in this poll go ahead and vote for your favorite character.

Also, if you are a fan of the show and like taking part in polls, go and check their poll tag and give your opinion!
